Got Mozaique on film! I

Got Mozaique on film! I snuck up on her when she was snoozing. She did wake up but I guess since she was in a daze she couldn't move around too much. lol Notice the slit eyes :)

I took the first one, then zoomed in on her face. I totally love the close up!

They are both 3 megapixels, natural light setting, no clue what the ISO was, forgot to check. lol I am so not a photographer! :)

Weather permitting I will try to get some outdoor shots tomorrow. It's been freezing cold, not to mention grey here, so I have not been motivated to go out.

Vicious Circle

Now that I'm not working I find myself in this stupid cycle of staying up really late, till the wee hours, and then sleeping most of the morning away. With the days getting shorter that means I have very little daylight time and so I don't get much done.

Unfortunately when I am up late it's usually because I am either watching TV or I'm online chatting in ym or posting on a forum. Not the best use of time, is it? So my plan is to force myself to wake up early tomorrow morning so that tomorrow night I will be tired and go to bed early. I sure hope it works, I need to make much better use of the day!

I went looking for an electric bed warmer today, but didn't find it. This one group of stores is supposed to have them, but the branch closest to me was all out. I really postively HATE getting into a cold bed at night. That's just wrong! Beds are meant to be warm and comforting aren't they? Just another pet peeve about winter.

Just spent some time snapping. :) I attempted to read the manual for the camera and it was total gibberish to me. I think I need to read my amateur photography book first, to understand all about exposure, aperture etc. and then the manual will make sense - hopefully. I fooled around in Paint Shop Pro and cropped the photo to look like this:

I also took some snaps of our cat, Mozaique, but she moves around quite a lot and they were mostly blurry. I need to figure out which would be the best settings for photos of her, she's our number one subject!

Speaking of settings, the apple photos were taken at 3 megapixels, ISO 200 and the natural light photo mode. I'm off to search the net for photography help. I definitely need it!

This blogging thing

has me obsessed! I stumbled across a couple of threads about blogs over on the Two Peas message board and I have spent a good portion of today browsing other people's blogs. I need to get a life!

I also started a photo of the day blog (see sidebar) and actually uploaded to it today. I really want to make the best use of my new camera, especially when we are home for the holidays.

And speaking of the holidays: I was thinking we wouldn't get a tree since we leave on Dec 22nd. I thought Lucas would be like "what's the point? it's a waste of money!" but when I mentioned to my friend Mary that we weren't getting one he piped up with "of course we are!" so yay! Now I need to plan out how I will decorate it and make some new decorations. Oh great, more things to do with the 3 weeks I have left. ACK! But I LOVE christmas and it just isn't christmas without a tree!

Last night I made the cutest thing as a hostess gift for my friend Shakira. I won't post it in case she wanders over here, but I think she will love it! Well I hope so anyway..... a couple hints if you do read this Shakira : it is related to one of the swaps you are hosting and it is extremely PINK! LOL

We got a new digi

We got a new digi cam several weeks ago, one I convinced Lucas to buy. I have wanted it forever, it is the Fuji Finepix S5600/5200 and it is a vast improvement on the dinky little thing we got last year.

Well I have hardly used the thing, so I am setting up this blog to encourage me to learn how to use it, I need to practise before we leave for our vacation in less than a month.

Not at all motivated

to do anything scrappy. :(( Now that I have all the time in the world I seem to be in a rut. I have had all these ideas floating around in my head for weeks now, but nothing! Maybe that's the problem? I am just overwhelmed with ideas? I did do an altered pringles can last night, to keep my rulers in. I was inspired by my friend Shakira. What else? Oh yeah I did an altered altoid tin for a forum friend for the Pay it Forward (PIF) game. That turned out cute. I hope she likes it. I will take photos of them today and post, it's about time I put some visuals on here.

Time for the weather: it's snowing!! We had our first snowfall on the 24th, and it has been snowing most of today. It's not sticking though, but I bet all the Lyonnais are panicking right now. I find it so funny that I am less worried about snow than they are and I am from the West Indies! Got to thank my three "wonderful" winters in Massachusetts for that. I was snowed and had to shovel my car out more times than I care to remember!

Christmas

is almost upon us. 1 month and 3 days left. That means it's time to panic! LOL I barely have any kind of list farless being anywhere near to having presents bought or wrapped. But I just finished making some christmas cards. I have 10 complete. Maybe this will be the year I actually send cards out to my friends and family instead of just thinking about it? :)

Since we'll be travelling home I at least don't have to worry too much about getting stuff prepared, although I still want to bake black cake for my in-laws and friends in France. I guess I should buy the fruits and wine and soak them for at least a couple weeks. Sounds like a good project for tomorrow. Of course it's gonna be cold as dog nose but I guess I better get used to that!
