Welcome to my little scrapbooking corner of the planet.
This is a carefully composed photo of the clean portion of the room! Having to get organised for Project Life was helpful in that at least one area of my room is now less chaotic. The bulk of my stuff for Project Life is kept in the six cube shelf. I keep my album and protectors on the top shelf of my workbench.
When I am working on the album (or scrapbooking in general) I stand right in front of that middle drawer. I have my sewing machine to my left, and my tool caddy to my right. Here's a closer look at what is in the cubes.
Top left cube holds a two-up photo album (that I am thinking I might cut pages out of to add extra photos in PL when I need to), a box with embellishments, and the most used thing so far is that little drawer of tags
These are all tags that I have been collecting over the years and I have been putting my printables in there too.
Top middle cube holds a basket of tiny letter stckers (and a few other random pieces)
Top right cube holds a double metal bucket with lots and lots of journaling spots, also collected over the years, as well as embellishment packages and paper pads.
Bottom left cube holds more buckets with clothespins and unmounted rubber stamps.
Bottom middle cube holds a box with acrylic stamps and some pre-inked stamps to the side.
Bottom right cube holds a stack of cardstock pieces (way old stash from when I belonged to Club Scrap), and my basket for ephemera.
Other places I can grab stuff from includes my box of paper scraps which lives on the lower shelf of my workbench,
and my general embellishment boxes which are in one of the cubes of the Expedit that is under the smaller six-cube shelf.
And that's about it! I also have my inks and stamping equipment handy in the middle drawer of the workbench, and my punches in the the drawer to the left.
So far it is working out well for me. My room isn't big so it's easy for me to go grab what I need as I work on the weekly spreads.
Now on to Week 3!
Before I started working this week I realised that the way I did last week's pages left me with a kind of a weird opening spread - the left page of 9 wallet sized pockets. I didn't have a bunch of photos that would work well printed that size so I decided to use it for a bunch of journaling - and pretty paper.
I actually worked on all the other pages first (while trying to figure out what I would do with those nine pockets) then at the end I chose a bunch of those journaling cards by Ali Edwards and added in things I'd missed when journaling for the other photos.

Second spread
That blurred section is Mr. K on the potty. I figure in a few years he'll thank me for that!

Some thoughts so far
- I'm happy that this week I managed to get some ephemera in! I think having that basket to collect it all definitely helped with that. Did you see the crown Kieran coloured? They did that at Playschool for Three King's Day.
- I need to organise my tags and journaling cards better. I plan to look for some sort of divided tray to be able to sort them properly.
- I was thinking that I am using too many photos, but I do pare it way down. It's just that Kieran moves through so many activities in one day that there is a lot to capture. I'm thinking as he grows older this might change? I am trying not to use very similar photos every week though. For instance, he plays with legos just about everyday but this week I didn't use a photo, I just noted it in the journaling.
- It still takes me too long to get it all done - initially I set aside Tuesday afternoons for Project Life because I have a full 3 hours, but that's barely enough time to get the photos edited and printed. I am hoping this is just the learning curve and I will speed up eventually (maybe when I take less photos?). I might start working on that portion of it in bits and pieces on Sunday and Monday, and then be all ready to do the pages on Tuesday afternoons. That said, this week was a tad bit faster because I actually planned my pages out a bit before getting started.
If you made it through all that, Thank You! I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have!
