I've never been a big collector of things. As a child I tried the usual stamps and coins, but lost interest quickly. I have a sort of half-hearted collection of cat figurines going, and a few years ago I attempted to collect cut-glass lemon squeezers, and amassed a grand total of two. Usually when people ask me what I collect I reply tongue-in-cheek: "crafting supplies!"
But it seems l now do have a growing collection: vintage cameras! It started innocently enough, I wanted a double lens camera for doing Through The Viewfinder (TTV) shots, so picked up the one you can see on the shelf above. Then slowly others started being added to my collection. Now I am drawn to vintage cameras at the flea markets and just can't resist them! Especially the Polaroids! yes, I jumped on that bandwagon.
But I need to be reasonable, right? I need to let others share in my finds and add to their own collections. Actually, what happens is that everytime I want to buy another vintage camera Lucas asks "Don't you already have one of those?". Um, do I? Happily, what I do have is a vintage shop, so I have an excuse! I'm happy to announce that I have a brand new section in my vintage shop now, for vintage cameras and accessories.
I plan to be on the hunt for other kinds of cameras soon. Some will be for the shop, and don't tell Lucas, but some will be added to my shelf!
Do you collect anything? Did it start when you were a child or as an adult?
Before I sign off, I wanted to remind you that Google Reader will be gone as of July 1st! Don't forget to find another way to keep up with your favourite blogs. You can check out one of the option below.
Feedly and Bloglovin will automatically import your subscriptions from Google Reader, but with The Old Reader you need to export/import your subscriptions file. You can do this from the settings in Google Reader. Whichever option you use, it's probably a good idea to go ahead and export that subscription file, since it may come in handy in the future. That way you won't have to go through the process of resubscribing to all your favourite blogs.
I am currently trying them all out right now, and so far I am leaning towards Feedly because it is very visual. But I know others prefer a plain text reader, in which case The Old Reader should be just the ticket. If you have any questions about any of this feel free to ask, and I will try to help!
Have a great weekend friends!
