Ok, that was my very corny lead in to talk about how excited I am to have been asked by Trish Turay to join the Work in Progress Kit Club Design Team!! The announcement was made last night, so my day finally ended on a good note. I'm really looking forward to working with this fabulous team and the wonderful kits Trish puts together!
The main thing on my agenda today is my Scrap Club meeting. We are part of a bigger artists association and the President is treating us to a barbecue tonight! So first we'll scrap and then we'll be fed! Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday summer evening.
My computer is still sick. I'm working around it, but I'm thinking that this might be a sign to have another disconnected day. Or maybe just some disconnected hours during my day. It will do me good!
This has been one of those days. The kind that makes you want to climb back in bed and ask for a do-over. Thank you Windows and Firefox. I spent most of the day trying to figure out what's wrong with my brand new system. Firefox keeps crashing (right now I'm using it in Safe Mode), and the computer restarts itself just like that. Every time I thought I had it fixed it proved me wrong and laughed in my face. So while I wait for a response from a help forum, I decided a spot of scrapping was just the ticket.
I pulled some older American Crafts papers from my stash, paired them with some newer embellishments and did a long over due page for Sister Scrap: the blog I share with my sister Vernell

I need to disconnect more often. Today was the most productive day I have had in about a week, maybe two. I was able to complete a mini-album and two layouts! I also did most of my household chores, finished reading an idea book, took quite a few photos, had a nice lunch with Lucas, did laundry, and watched an episode of Will and Grace. And at the end of it all the Internet was still waiting for me and I got caught up in no time.
Here's the mini-album I did. These photos are from my trip to Barbados in May. The album uses lots of Hambly and American Crafts, but also stuff from Pink Paislee, Maya Road and Heidi Swapp. Most of these items are from the June Kit at Scrapbook Takeout. The kit is still available, just scroll down the page. The pages are patterned papers from Scenic Route, and the cover is half of a scroll shape folded in two - the other half was used on a page.
The two layouts I'm holding onto for submission and not posting online. I love them both, and I'm thrilled with how they came out. All I needed was to clear my head and focus. It felt good to just sit and create without any distractions.
And now I will disconnect again and go snuggle on the couch with Lucas.

We're having some problems with our phone line, so our internet service has been spotty of late. Self-imposed disconnection is bad enough, but when it is not of my own making it feels like I have had an arm or leg amputated. Proving that my dependence on being so connected may not be that good a thing. So I am embracing the disconnect, and exploring other ways of waking up in the morning. In the meantime, feel free to wander over to my little etsy store.
