Our family traveled to Chicago this past summer for the Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types (FIRST) family conference. This conference is held every two years and travels throughout the United States. We haven't missed one since Ema was born in 2004.
Our daughter, Ema, was born with a rare skin disorder called ichthyosis. The condition is characterized by dry, itchy and scaly skin. Her body produces an ambundance of skin cells so she requires at least one bath a day with lotions in order to keep her comfortable. For more information about ichthyosis, please visit www.scalyskin.org
The family conference allows those affected from all over the world a chance to meet together with medical specialist for a weekend of laughing, crying, hugging and dancing. We will never miss a conference!
While in Chicago we stayed a few extra days in order to take in the sites.
This page is a collection of photos from our day at the Navy Pier. The kids loved the Children's Museum and we all loved the deep dish pizza at the end of the day. The pizza box opens up to reveal the yummy treat inside.
Scrap on!
