Nothing says summer than the blue water of the Caribbean Sea. I took this photo at Martin's Bay in Barbados last December 31st when we visited our family there. What a perfect end to the year.
Interesting to note about this layout is that all the patterned paper has been in my sash for at least three or four years but with the right mix of embellishments and the perfect photo this layout does not look dated.

I don't know about you all, but I have been enjoying the warm summer days already! I just returned from a girls' weekend in Dallas... sadly, I have no layouts to show for it as of yet! Instead, I thought I'd share some summer-themed layouts I have done recently to get you thinking about possible summer layouts of your own.
One thing I love about summer is all the delicious fresh fruit. So I decided to do a layout about it!
Another thing I love about summer is spending time with family outside.... just enjoying the moment!
And, finally, I love traveling to new places in the summertime. Like last summer when I saw Puget Sound for the first time.

I love boarding passes. I love my GPS. I love the Lonely Planet Guides to new parts of the world. I love my Mac Pac backpack from New Zealand which is covered in flags from all over the world. I love riding on buses, trains, subways, trishaws, boats, horses, camels, cable cars, chair lifts, and in the back of flat bed trucks of friendly strangers. I love my toe ring which I bought in a back alley in Bali. Quite simply, I love to travel. Sadly, the majority of traveling I have done in my life was before I owned a half decent camera. It wasn't until this past May that I finally bought myself a grown-up camera. And some lens. And then some more lens. And a tripod. And a camera bag...you can see where I am going with this.
Anyways, this is my first travel layout that uses my grown up camera. I was fortunate enough to travel to Chicago this past July, twice. The first time was with my husband and kids for the Ichthyosis Medical Conference. Our daughter, Ema, was born with Ichthyosis and we travel to the States every other year for this conference. The second trip to Chicago was for CHA. This is the mecca of all things crafty.
Our family traveled to Chicago this past summer for the Foundation for Ichthyosis and Related Skin Types (FIRST) family conference. This conference is held every two years and travels throughout the United States. We haven't missed one since Ema was born in 2004.
Our daughter, Ema, was born with a rare skin disorder called ichthyosis. The condition is characterized by dry, itchy and scaly skin. Her body produces an ambundance of skin cells so she requires at least one bath a day with lotions in order to keep her comfortable. The family conference allows those affected from all over the world a chance to meet together with medical specialist for a weekend of laughing, crying, hugging and dancing. We will never miss a conference!
While in Chicago we stayed a few extra days in order to take in the sites. 
This page is a collection of photos from our day at the Navy Pier. The kids loved the Children's Museum and we all loved the deep dish pizza at the end of the day. The pizza box opens up to reveal the yummy treat inside.
