The thought above occurred to me a couple weeks ago as I was working on some projects. I was using products that I wouldn't necessarily have chosen myself, and I realised that even then, my layouts still looked like I made them. You know what I mean?
I started thinking about how in the last six months or so, I have been very happy with the majority of my work, because it all looked like me, my style. Truth is I still wouldn't know what name to give said style, hence the latter part of my epiphany, but my layouts and other projects just feel right, they feel like me.
I also tweeted the statement, and got a few responses from people saying they agreed. I think many of us scrapbookers are trying hard to figure out what our style is, and to be honest I don't think we need to have labels for it. I guess what I am trying to say is that we need to do what makes us feel good, and what works for us.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't try anything new. Lord knows I jump on every technique bandwagon that comes along, and that is an all important part of finding out exactly what does work for us. But at the end of the day we need to keep what feels right, what flows naturally into our creative process, and not madly follow the trends if it just doesn't fit.
And that's my Wednesday Wisdom for this week!
