When I posted about Kieran's map monogram, I promised I would share more about exactly where it is located. We live in a small apartment, but we are slowly trying to carve out little areas for Kieran and ourselves. One of these is his play and art area, which is tucked into a corner of the living room.
I got the idea from this post on the happy home blog, which I first saw on Ohdeedoh (or maybe I saw it on Tumblr hmmm). I practically squealed when I realised this was the same toddler set we just bought. Plus we also had the bar and pots hanging around doing nothing, and of course I had Japanese masking tape!
I decided to do the table top in chalkboard adhesive instead of masking tape like I did on the chairs.
(Please try to ignore the ugly floor. Sigh)
The little pots hold unsharpened pencils - which he likes to throw on the floor like a game of Mikado - coloured pencils, crayons, paintbrushes and sidewalk chalk.
He has some artwork on the shelf along with the monogram. These were both gifts from close friends who are artists.
I have a couple more ideas for this nook, but they will have to wait for now. I'll be adding a wire to display his art soon, now that he has started making some.
Oh, and just so you know, I took these photos during naptime after I had tidied up. This is more what the nook looks like on a normal day when he is in his space.
I think Teddy was about to be sat in that chair. Or something! Surprsingly, he is pretty good so far about only using the chalk on the table top, and the crayons on paper. So far. We haven't attempted a painting project here yet. I think I'll stick to the kitchen with that for now!
Happy Friday, my friends.
